This post started mainly as a list for my cousin, a 14 year old who adored the Twilight series but I’ve put a bit of research into related books, and read quite a few before coming up with a list of books that I think would be interesting to a Twilight fan whether they’re 14 or 40.
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
I know what you’re thinking – wait a second, that’s a Classic, are you trying to trick me? What does that have to do with Twilight? Â Jane is a plain, but intelligent and strong young woman, and she goes to work as a governess for a dark, handsome and mysterious man with countless secrets and falls passionately in love.
Night World Series by L.J. Smith
A secret world exists where Vampires, Werewolves, and Witches live unbeknownst to humans…and there’s just two rules: they can’t tell humans, and they can’t fall in love with them. In each book of the Night World series, humans, shapeshifters, witches and vampires find their soulmate, someone who they are forbidden to love, but can’t live without.
This series has recently been re-released, so that each volume has 3 books. The series is not yet finished.
Volume 1: Secret Vampire, Daughters of Darkness, Spellbinder
Volume 2: Dark Angel, The Chosen, Soulmate
Volume 3: Huntress, Black Dawn, Witch Light
The Vampire Diaries Series by L.J. Smith
This series is actually about to become a T.V. series, and I can’t wait. Popular and beautiful Elena can have any guy she wants — except the new student at school, Stefan. He’s mysterious and oddly has traits that one would associate with…a vampire? Good characterization and a thrilling plot. The original series has been re-released in two volumes:
Volume 1: The Awakening, The Struggle
Volume 2: The Fury, Dark Reunion
Also, Ms. Smith has decided to continue The Vampire Diaries with a second series, Vampire Diaries: The Return.
Darkest Power Series by Kelley Armstrong
While Ms. Armstrong’s adult series tend to lack plot and characterization, her first foray into young adult
fiction vividly creates a strong teenage girl character…who can see ghosts.  Chloe begins to see ghosts after her first period, and is sent to a group home with a diagnosis of schizophrenia. But is Chloe really ill, or are those ghosts real? This series starts with The Summoning, and continues with The Awakening (more volumes to come).
